What is the difference between TC type oil seal and SC type oil seal?

What is the difference between TC type oil seal and SC type oil seal?

1. Structural design

TC type oil seal: It is inner skeleton and outer rubber covered double lip skeleton oil seal. There are main lip and vice lip, main lip is used to prevent oil, vice lip is used to prevent dust, which can effectively prevent lubricant leakage and outside dust, impurities and so on into the system.

SC Type Oil Seal: It is a single lip rubber skeleton seal, compared with TC type, it lacks a dust-proof lip and has only one lip for oil-proofing.

2. Application Scenarios

TC Type Oil Seal: Suitable for environments with contamination problems, commonly used in automotive applications, such as wheel bearings and transmissions, as well as agricultural machinery, construction machinery and other equipment that are easily exposed to dust and impurities, providing good dust and oil protection for the equipment.

SC type oil seal: suitable for clean environment with no or little dust, such as sealing of electric motors, water pumps, fans and other equipments working in cleaner indoor environment.

3. Performance Characteristics

TC type oil seal: with double sealing function, higher sealing reliability, able to withstand radial and axial forces to a certain extent, adapting to different working conditions, such as high and low temperatures, high speed rotation and other working conditions.

SC Type Oil Seal: The single lip design makes it comparable to the main lip of TC Type Oil Seal in terms of oil-proof performance, but it is relatively weak in dust-proof due to the lack of dust-proof lip. However, it performs better in pressure changing applications, and springs help it maintain sealing efficiency under varying pressure conditions.

4. Material and Specification

TC Type Oil Seal: The material is usually Nitrile Rubber (NBR), Fluorine Rubber (FKM), etc.. NBR material is cost-effective and has good oil resistance and abrasion resistance; FKM material has more excellent high temperature and chemical resistance. They are available in various sizes to meet different shaft diameters and installation requirements.

SC type oil seal: the material is similar to that of TC type, which is also made of nitrile rubber, fluorine rubber, etc. The specifications are also abundant. Its specifications are also abundant, and the appropriate size can be selected according to the specific application requirements, but under the same size, the structure of SC type oil seal is relatively simple.
